Causes of Renal Cyst

Different from Polycystic Kidney Disease, Renal Cyst is not a genetic disorder, but a common abnormal structure of Kidneys, which usually has no severe symptoms or complications. People do not aware it apart from during regular checkups occasionally. Sometimes, people with Renal Cyst will feel pain in lower back and have frequent urination, but the severe symptoms such as blood in urine are really rare. Thus many people are confused about what causes Renal Cyst and wonder whether treatments are needed or not.
Causes of Renal Cyst
Although the pathological reasons have been unknown, more and more scholars agree that Renal Cyst is attributed to diverticula in renal tubules. As time goes, distal tubules and manifolds tend to develop more diverticula. When the primary urine flows in those tubules, primary urine will be blocked in those diverticula, stimulating diverticula into cysts. Theoretically, this disease can occur in people of any age, but most patients are over fifty years old. Thus Renal Cyst is considered as the symbol of aging. A small part of patients get Renal Cyst from dialysis. In the end stages of Renal Failure, primary urine can not drain out smoothly and the kidney tubules tend to swollen compensatively and cause cysts.
Causes of symptoms
Normally, Renal Cyst can not arouse symptoms. Only when those cysts are infected, will frequent urination, urgent urination, dysuria and hematuria occur. The moment urinary tract infection appears, the cysts are usually bigger than 5cm, which are easily broken. Once broken, they can infect the whole abdomen and cause sharp pain. Even though they are not broken, the big cysts will stretch the renal capsule, also causing dull pain.
What the patients can do
If without obvious symptoms, patients are not advised to receive special treatments but they must take regular checkups to watch their growth. In addition, it is important for patients to change their unhealthy dietary regiment, such as smoking, alcoholism, staging late into night and so on, those habits may get the cysts infected. If Renal Cyst has aroused severe symptoms, surgery is adopted to absorb fluid inside to stop its’ growth and ease patients’ discomforts. Commonly, Renal Cyst will not damage renal function, which is different from Polycystic Kidney disease.
